Preparing for Your Tattoo Appointment
A little preparation can make your tattoo session more comfortable and help your skin be in the best condition for tattooing.
In the Days Before Your Appointment
Exfoliate Gently
For 2–3 days before your appointment, gently exfoliate the area that will be tattooed using a soft exfoliating cloth or a gentle body scrub. This helps remove dry, flaky skin and creates a smoother surface.
Please avoid aggressive scrubbing or anything that irritates the skin.
Keep Your Skin Hydrated
Apply a fragrance-free moisturizer to the tattoo area daily during the week leading up to your appointment. Well-hydrated skin generally takes ink better than dry skin.
On the day of your appointment, skip lotions, oils, or creams on the area being tattooed unless we've discussed it beforehand.
The Day of Your Appointment
Eat Before You Arrive
Please have a good meal before your appointment. Tattooing can take a while, and arriving on an empty stomach may make you feel lightheaded or uncomfortable.
A meal with protein and complex carbohydrates is a great choice to help keep your energy steady.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water before your appointment and continue to stay hydrated throughout the day. Healthy, hydrated skin and a well-hydrated body will help you feel more comfortable during your session.
Bring Comfortable Clothing
Wear clean, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed. Keep in mind that ink can occasionally transfer onto clothing, so avoid wearing your favorite outfit if it will be near the tattoo.
If your tattoo is in a location that's difficult to access, consider bringing a change of clothes or wearing loose-fitting garments that make the area easy to reach.
During Your Session
We always have cold water and a selection of snacks available in the studio, so there's no need to worry if you need a quick break. You're also welcome to bring your own favorite drink or snack if you have specific preferences or dietary needs.
Don't hesitate to let us know if you need to stretch, use the restroom, or take a short break during a longer session. We want you to be as comfortable as possible.
Please Avoid
-
Arriving without eating.
-
Excessive alcohol the night before or alcohol on the day of your appointment.
-
Recreational drugs before your session.
-
Sunburns, fresh tans, or irritated skin on the tattoo area.
-
Heavy workouts immediately before your appointment, as they can leave you dehydrated and make your skin more sensitive.
